Welcome to the 15th OGLFF!

It gives us extra pleasure to welcome you to this year's film festival. In the first place, this is the first time Oslo is hosting EuroPride and we have visitors from all around the world. Secondly, we have a wide selection of gay and lesbian films, so there should be something of interest to everyone.

This year’s opening film is the French comedy “Mariscos Beach”. This film, from the directors of the successful Funny Felix, is loaded with humor. This will be followed by several “pearls on a string” – from the touching film “A Home at the End of the World” to the rock film “Prey for Rock & Roll”, the beautiful “Summer Storm”, the camp “D.E.B.S.”, the ‘cozy’ “Bear Cub”, scary “Switchblade Romance” and the pleasurable “Touch of Pink”.

“Touch of Pink” is directed by Ian Iqbal Rashid, who will be our guest during this year’s festival. He will take part in our seminar “Does sexuality have a role to play?”. This is the first time the Oslo Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will hold this type of seminar, which will include interesting topics and international participants.

Sir Ian McKellen is the honoured guest of both EuroPride and the Oslo Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and one of the important participants in the seminar. In addition, there will be a number of interesting lecturers and debaters. We hope that many of you will come to listen, think and discuss gay and lesbian films on Friday, June 24 at Filmens hus.

We also hope that as many people as possible will have an opportunity to gain insight into their own lives or the lives of other gay and lesbian men and women on the big screen during the course of these few days each year. This year’s programme should bring many new experiences and impulses. We especially challenge women to run from one film to the next, because this year we have many noteworthy “girl films” on the programme.

Something that gives our film festival that extra touch is the good festival setting in Filmens hus. The film festival always has an unusually enthusiastic, patient, grateful and spirited public. So we’re getting the whole thing started with a good opening celebration at the new bar Naken on the opening evening, Friday, June 17. We hope lots of you will join us for the kickoff for this year’s gay – and joyous – film festival.

See you!
